Taking Up The Gauntlet - An ASLSK Test Scenario

MANNECOURT HILL near ARRACOURT, FRANCE, 20 September, 1944: The initial German attacks on Arracourt on 19 September 1944 had appeared to flounder, blunted by the counterattack of Patton’s 3rd Army. CCA of the 4th Armor Division was ordered to move northeast in two columns to exploit the lull created by the counterattack. At 1130 hours, 20 September, CCA was recalled to the Arracourt sector after enemy tanks of 111th Panzer Brigade returned to the attack. By 1500 hours, Colonel Creighton Abrams had assembled a force near Lezey to sweep the area "...once and for all!"

After his arrival the two companies jockeyed for position and engaged in a tank duel that evened the score. As darkness fell Abrams retired to the south, completing his sweep of Moncourt before returning to Lezey, leaving the battlefield to the Germans.
